My two Jack Russels were at different stages of life… Eddie was still young and would run forever, however Jack was older, he began to struggle with long walks and keeping up on our adventures. But even as his legs slowed down, his spirit never did. He still wanted to come with me, the only problem? Carrying a large Jack Russell in your arms got tiring fast.

At first, I tried putting him in a regular backpack where I made continual modifications. But it didn’t work. He overheated, his arthritis flared up due to poor positioning, and he was clearly uncomfortable. I bought a backpack designed for dogs and found we had all of the same problems. Jack didn’t feel secure, his legs were strained, and it seemed to make things worse.

So I started studying the way he naturally sat. I spoke to vets. I watched how he positioned himself when he was comfortable and relaxed. And from that, The JackPack was born, a purpose-built dog carrier that gave him the support, airflow, and safety he needed.

That was 12 years ago.

Jack loved it. We went everywhere together; bike rides, walks, even skiing. He loved being high up, peering over my shoulder to take it all in. When we brought out the pack, he’d get excited, he knew it meant adventure.

Sadly, we lost Jack five years ago. But his legacy lives on through his son, Eddie, the inspiration behind our logo.

Built from Real-Life Experience

For over a decade, people stopped us on the street, asking where they could buy one. I always said I’d make them available one day, and now, in retirement, I finally have the time and purpose to do just that.

I’ve taken everything I learned with Jack and Eddie and turned it into a product I’m proud to share. Handcrafted in the UK, The JackPack is designed to help dog owners bring their companions along, comfortably, safely, and joyfully and without compromise.
